TAKE ACTION
Below is information for your benefit on bills that must be stopped. We are asking that you make yourself familiar with the information. We need you to contact their US Rep. and in some cases your US Senators ask them to vote NO for these bills. Where possible PLEASE utilize the links below to find the contact information for your US Rep. and/or to easily send an email. I suggest for every call you also send an email. If you are uncomfortable with making a call please send an email. You can also share the link to this TAKE ACTION.
Even though we contacted our US House Representatives asking them to request a Roll Call vote on HR4174 and then vote NO they moved forward and used a Voice Vote to pass HR4174. This bill was submitted and passed in exactly one week. This is the same thing they did when they passed ESSA. Now the Senate companion bill S2046 will probably get passed just as quickly.
ACTION:
1. On twitter go to President Trump's twitter @potus and @realdonaldtrump and send our President a tweet to make sure S2046 never sees the light of day. Here is what you need to say.
#NOtoS2046 Keep UR promise. Your tweet will look like this: @potus #NOtoS2046 Keep UR promise then send a twitter to @realdonaldtrump using the same hashtag and the same message with the video link
Then attach the following video (this video is where President Trump promised to stop the data mining of our children. HR4714/S2046 does the complete opposite. VIDEO
You can reword the message and just keep sending him tweets and get others to help you
NOW call you US Senators and ask them to VOTE NO for S2046 (the Senate companion bill)
2. Now make a call to President Trump's contact number and ask him to Keep his promise to end collecting/sharing our children's personal and private information without parental knowledge and consent Call: 202-456-1111. (you could also add to the conversation and ask our President to repeal Obama's EO that gutted FERPA)
There are other bills that must be stopped because they all are part of furthering the assault on our privacy and collecting data on everything we do and say into one large database. All the federal agencies will dump their data into this data one stop shopping network. Call your US House Representative and ask them to VOTE NO.
3. Call your US House Rep and ask them to VOTE NO for the 3 bills below
HR2434 - these 2 bills will address privacy and collection of personal data on our college students.
HR4274
HR3157 - This bill will further gut FERPA (Family Educational Rights & Privacy Act)
4. Call your 2 US Senators and ask them to VOTE NO for S2046 (the companion bill for HR4174)
Here are copies of the legislation:
Passed on 11-15-17 HR4174 - (click on bill number for a copy of the bill). This bill is sponsored by Speaker Paul Ryan and Rep. Patty Murray. That alone should be enough to make you want to stop this bill. It will open the flood gates to our personal data and merging it with data already collected by many federal agencies making it easier for 3rd party contractors to get full and complete access to the information. We are being told that our government MUST have this data in order to reduce poverty, provide good education and make good sound government policy decisions. This is a LIE. If they told you the truth (just like they said about Obamacare) the American people would resist. So they do as they always do they lie.
HR4174/S2046 came about as a product from the recommendations of a Commission that was created by legislation HR1831. Commission on Evidence-Based Policymaking (CEP). Here is an article that will provide some information about this Commission and links for the final documents. ARTICLE
The members of this commission have personal and financial reasons for wanting access to this information. There were very few people testifying against the recommendations of this committee. I do know that Emmitt McGroarty (American Principles Project) did testify against the recommendations and the work of this Commission. I also know that EVERY recommendation made by this Commission was approved. Click on the RED links to read the bill text.
Here is testimony from Raise Your Hand Action and Parents Coalition for Student Privacy (Cassandra Creswell, PhD) against the work of the Commission on Evidence-Based Policymaking which is now the basis for HR4174. ARTICLE
HR3157 - (click on bill number for a copy of the bill). This bill is sponsored by Rep. Rokita (Rep. Rokita is running for US Senate in 2018). Rep. Rokita was also the sponsor of HR5 which was the House ESSA bill. Here are 2 articles that will give you an idea of why this bill is not in our children's best interest. ARTICLE ARTICLE 2 and one that gives a humorous but very possible look at the future. ARTICLE
HR2434
This bill will allow the federal government to collect personal data on our college students
HR4274
This is another bill that will erode the privacy of our college students
You should be very concerned over this overreach into our personal lives by our federal government. Think about the possible implications. Your child is refused a job because the child's dossier, accessible by future employers, documents that your child was found to have aggressive behavior as a child. Of course this behavior will be determined subjectively by untrained teachers. Or you are denied purchases at the food store because you are over weight or have diabetes.
